Home – Finally arriving
Home, feeling at home, having arrived... We all know and share the longing or deep-rooted feeling for a place or people where we feel safe, accepted, and at home. “Familiarity” ... This feeling can also “set in” when nothing seems to change on the outside — but a process of acceptance takes place on the inside. So it is more than just a spatial assignment, a region or place, but rather an emotional state that is incredibly complex and individual — and can change.
Baldur Galoor's painting “Home” (1.50 m x 80 cm, acrylic on canvas) describes this longing for “home” that is familiar to us all. Travelers reach a city in the treetops in a fantasy landscape — and are warmly welcomed. The hosts and the new home radiate supernatural beauty and a paradisiacal atmosphere of light. An enormous sense of security, safety, and openness is conveyed by the strong colors, the retreat high up in the trees, and the glowing sky.
The central figure on the left in the painting looks back with a smile on a long, adventurous journey, joyfully anticipating finally having arrived — and finding peace and quiet. References to The Lord of the Rings trilogy are deliberately chosen.
The central motif of “Home” is universal — in keeping with Baldur Galoor's Fusion Realism, futuristic objects are combined with fantastical visual elements to represent the timelessness of this universal motif. Dynamic brushstrokes are contrasted with graphic, geometric surfaces that symbolize divine order in a chaotic world.
